The City Clerk's office is located on the first floor of City Hall at 6 Main Street. Lisa Long is the City Clerk/Treasurer, and can be contacted at 734.697.9323. The City Clerk's office is responsible for
various functions of the City including assisting
the
City Manager with various forms of communication for
Council. The City Clerk records
the official minutes,
prepares official documents approved by Council
including processing contracts and prepare necessary
documents requiring the City's official seal, posts all
public hearing notices and process all Freedom of
Information requests.
The Clerk’s Office is responsible for all functions of
an election such as registering voters, process absentee
ballot applications, hire and supervise precinct
workers, tabulates
election results, verifies nominating
petitions and conducts tests on the election program
and
equipment to detect errors prior to an election.
Other services provided by the Clerk’s Office:
- Being
the Clerk of the Council which includes keeping a
permanent journal of its proceedings including
posting of meetings, setting of agendas, preparation
and
follow up packets, mailing of notices, minutes
preparation, review and recording
- Processes requests filed under the Freedom of
Information Act
- Administers oaths of office
- Custodian of municipal seal and executes official
documents
- Copy’s
and distributes Ordinances
- Publishing and posting notices of the City as
required by law

Election Information
Registering
to Vote
If you are
not a registered voter, call the Clerk at 734.697.9323
for information. You must be a United States citizen, 18
years of age by the election day, and a resident of the
City of Belleville for at least 30 days prior to the
election to register to vote.
You can register to vote for federal, state, and
local elections by mail; at your city or county clerk's office; or by visiting
any Secretary of State branch office. Go to the

Please note that Michigan law requires that the address
on your voter registration card must match your driver’s
license. Any address change to either will
automatically change your address on both documents.
